The job itself is completed the same day. However Ford timing belt covers and sumps don't have a gasket and use silicone which needs to cure.

Curing time is a minimum of 18 hours, recommended 24 hours. Please consider this when booking. For example, if you book it in for a Monday 9am start, it will be ready to drive by 6am the Tuesday morning as a minimum based on new cover being fitted around midday with a recommended time of midday the Tuesday.

Yes! If you have a service book, please leave it on the seat and we will stamp it. 

We will also reset the oil service required light if its on.

All the parts that matter, Yes!

We use a good quality Aftermarket cover and oil filter (typically Bosch or Fahren). Everything else is straight from Ford PartsPlus, including the full timing belt kit, all bolts, sump.

The Transit timing belts don't run off the Crankshaft cog like a traditional engine, it runs off the intermediate pulley which is a spring loaded cog wedged between the crankshaft cog and fuel pump pulley, meaning the camshafts in fact turn anti-clockwise. This 13mm bolt is renowned for snapping causing engine damage. This bolt was changed from a standard bolt to a bolt with nyloc by Ford. During our wet belt change, we change this bolt.

That depends on the other provider, but our service is more comprehensive in that:

• We remove (and replace) the oil sump in order to remove and fully clear out the oil pump pickup pipes.
  Last time we checked, even Ford dealerships wasn't doing this during wet belt services.
  We understand the importance of clearing out the oil strainer & pipes as this can lead to vacuum pump failure.
• We replace the intermediate pulley bolt!
• Experience! We have done hundreds (literally). We know the I/P & F/P pulley are spring loaded and will ensure they do not fall out of mesh when turning the engine over to check timing. This happens when inexperienced technicians rotate the crankshaft allowing the C/S pulley to ride forward. If they become out of mesh, the pulley will fail causing engine damage. 

We recommend every:

80k / 5years (sooner of) as a MAXIMUM.

Some vehicles may need it sooner. We typically find vehicles doing a lot of short journeys, idling, towing degrade the timing belts prematurely compared to motor homes and long distance drivers.

Warranty is 12 months / 12k miles (sooner of) covering labour and parts.

To preserve the life of the belt, we also strongly suggest a servicing interval of 1yr/12k miles MAX. For vehicles used for short, local journeys, we recommend 1yr/8k mile intervals.
